The Big Ring Gag is made with stainless steel 4-1/2" rings and a sweet iron mouth. The Big Ring Gag is stronger than the usual Loose Ring and Eggbutt as the ropes going through the rings create leverage which will exert more pressure through the mouthpiece whilst at the same time introducing more poll pressure.
The Buster Roller link in the middle is shortened to 40mm which increases bar and tongue pressure making the bit sharper than conventional link bits. The increased pressure on the bar will lift the head and the roller will increase pressure on the tongue bringing the chin in. Best suited for a horse with a low head carriage and which leans on the bit.
The Corkscrew mouthpiece is grooved to offer extra control over strong horses. The groove in the mouthpiece causes edges that result in pressure points in the horse's mouth. The edges amplify pressure on the mouth, especially the bars and tongue, and also act on the lips. This offers the rider more control than a smooth mouthpiece, and can help to prevent the horse from leaning.
The mouth pieces is made from blue sweet iron, because it:
oxidizes easily
encourages salivation
helps bit acceptance
is warm and sweet
